According to Cookbook of Foods from Bible Days, the Roman Emperor Tiberius loved cucumbers. Today I made this for lunch it was taste. Try this recipe and I hope you enjoy it.
Ingredients:
2 medium cucumbers, peeled
1 tablespoon butter
2 green onions, sliced fine
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoons salt
pepper
1 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
How to make it!
Cut cucumber into quarters lengthwise then slice into 1/2 inch pieces. Put in boiling salted water. Return to boil and cook for 10 minutes. Drain and keep warm. Melt butter in a heavy saucepan. Fry onions until limp and golden. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Stir until smooth and then gradually stir in milk. Bring to a boil and stir until thick. Pour a little sauce into the beaten egg, stirring constantly, then add egg mixture to sauce. Stir over low heat until the egg and cream sauce sets. Add the cucumbers, adjust seasoning and serve hot.

Roman Toast
Ingredients:
3 tablespoon olive oil or butter
4 thick slices white bread
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons honey
The HOW To:
Pour the oil into a skillet and place over a very low heat. Take care that the oil does not start to burn. Slice the bread and cut off the crust. Put the milk into a shallow dish and quickly dip the slices of bread in and out the milk. Transfer the bread to the skillet and fry until lightly browned on both sides. Drizzle honey over the hot bread and serve.
